True weight loss success that will inspire every slimmer

YOUNG mum Lisa Lightowlers, from Bridgend, Mid-Glamorgan, wanted to lose a few pounds off her 10st 2lb figure, so she used a Slimpod to help her think less about food and help her want to do more. Within three weeks it had achieved a remarkable result, as Lisa explains in her own words from her 21-day success log.

She says: "I feel really positive again and can't wait to see what the scales will say at the weekend. To be honest though it's more about how it makes me feel not the weight numbers (but to see them dropping is an added boost!). I'm feeling so much more confident in myself about the way I look since I started to listen to the Slimpod.

"I'm a bridesmaid next July and tried on my dress earlier this week. The 12 I tried was too big, which was a surprise! So I tried the size 10 and it fitted. It was a little snug across the tummy but instead of it getting me down I know it won't be a problem to lose those few extra pounds I need to for it to look perfect!!"

The biggest differences Lisa says she has noticed are having the strength to say No, focussing on her portion size - “not the same as my hubby’s any more,” she says – and not finishing off her daughter’s uneaten meals! This is what Lisa wrote in her daily log…

Bought carrots and cucumber and made a dip for friends coming round instead of crisps and chocolate. Had a skinny hot chocolate and didn’t have a muffin with it.

Went to friend’s house and turned down home-made cake. Tried to increase water intake. Stocked cupboards with seeds to add to salads to make them more exciting in a healthy way – as opposed to adding cheese.

Made up muesli boxes with seeds, nuts and fruit for breakfast. Didn’t have biscuits during snack time at playgroup. Didn’t eat Neve’s (my daughter’s) leftovers.

Walked into town (45minutes). VERY steep hill coming home. Bought bottle of water for walk home, not sweets. Didn’t go for coffee while shopping, had water while walking home.

Didn’t have muffin with my Starbucks skinny drink. Went to engagement party, didn’t have “seconds” at buffet. Only drank 3 G & Ts at party!

Ill so didn’t notice any new differences, however other than giving in to a few cravings I feel I stuck to previous changes I’d made.

Shared skinny muffin while out shopping. Had skinny coffee. Husband wanted to have meal out at lunch time but I wasn’t hungry enough for big meal and had soup instead of eating when not hungry. Didn’t finish off daughter’s dinner.

Did supermarket shop and resisted buying chocolate. Stuck to list of food on list for planned meals. Drank peppermint tea instead of coffee.

Home-made carrot and orange soup, freshly made, so much nicer than bought. Will make soup more often. Had Options hot choc drink instead of snack to cure choc craving. Got out of the house for a walk when the rain cleared, went conker hunting.

Walked to post office instead of going in car. Salad instead of potato wedges with dinner. Thought about portion control, ie not having same as my husband.

Made low fat chilli recipe, only had small portion of rice. Stopped eating when full as opposed to finishing bowl. Didn’t have pitta bread with chilli, had salad instead.

Increased water intake. Walked to playgroup. Husband was away with work and normally I have chocolate – but had two rich tea biscuits instead.

Didn’t have “seconds” of roast dinner. Made mashed potatoes instead of roast. Had small helping of dessert.

Took Neve to playgroup and ran around after her! Used 1-cal spray instead of olive oil. Made fresh herbs rather than cheese in omelette.

Kept tally of water intake. Did fitness DVD while daughter’s napping !!! Had apple and banana as snack before exercising.

Weighted out rice portion. Used yoghurt instead of coconut milk in curry, Stuck to supermarket shopping list – no treats.

Started day with hot water and lemon instead of tea. Walked to Tesco and didn’t buy treat for walk home, had water instead.

Went to beach and had a run round. Talked husband into not having nachos while watching film. Did some gardening.

Did fitness DVD again!!! Felt energised !!! Only had half a glass of wine when out for a meal. Didn’t have a pudding.

Did online shop for food and stuck to meals planned. Herbal tea instead of milky coffee. Had music on while cleaning and danced around while dusting.

Lisa says over the next 21 days she’s looking forward to increasing her exercise level and registering for classes. She also wants to do more home-made cooking – “I’d forgotten how much I enjoy cooking,” she says.

And best of all, she’s looking to fitting into some her old clothes, particularly her backless halter-neck party dress that she last wore in 2007, her gym clothes from four years ago and her skinny jeans.

BABIES are wonderful, beautiful, brilliant little delights, aren’t they? The only downside – apart from what they do to our sleep patterns – is the effects they have on our waistlines. Baby belly, mummy tummy, call it what you will, it’s not something most of us feel ...
