Goals: Look what mine achieved for me
IT’S that time of year again when everyone talks about setting goals. So as I’m always extolling the virtues of good goal-setting I thought I would write about how my 2013 goals worked for me and what my plans are for 2014. When goals are set properly they have such a magical effect, so much so that you can get to the end of the year and not even appreciate what you’ve achieved! This happened to me.
At the beginning of 2013 one of my aims was for Thinking Slimmer to gain even greater authority as a leader in our field. There are several aspects to this and once I’d set my goal they began to unfold during the year.
We also desperately needed to change our site over to a new system because we needed to create a better experience for our customers. I also wanted a WordPress blog on the site and a great affiliate scheme.
Like any business we also have our sales goals because without selling products we wouldn’t be able to operate and change lives!
So where are we at with all our goals as 2014 begins?
Our clinical trials began in October and they will last six months. This was a real “Eeek!” moment because it’s the first time anyone has conducted clinical trials into the use of voice recordings for lifestyle change
We have the support of the Department of Health too, which is a major plus.
We became an official national partner of Change4Life, the Department of Health’s healthy lifestyle initiative.
We are a stakeholder in the National Institute of Clinical Excellence’s consultation on adult obesity.
I became part of the lead team in an influential women’s entrepreneurs group based in the House of Lords.
Wow! I kid you not – absolutely none of the above was planned this time last year. My goal-setting just set my internal system in action to find ways to achieve what I wanted.
This took seven months and a lot of late nights and weekend working, and on October 5th we changed over to the new system. I’m thrilled with it because it’s cleaner looking and easier for customers to use.
Went live early in December (phew!) and we have six affiliates so far and rising daily.
We’ve had another year of increased sales and my financial goals were met. So much of our sales are word of mouth (and word of mouse!) so I’d like to thank everyone for continuing to spread the word!
I’m now about to create my goal map for 2014. Much of it will be about building on the work we have done in 2013 but good goals need to be specific so I’ll be setting targets so we can:
Expand into corporates (gyms etc). This was started in 2013 but needs a big push now.
Develop our affiliate programme to 100 by the end of 2014.
Create an award-winning blog
And of course my Sales targets – increase year on year to enable me to develop my team and give support to more people.
So there you have it. My goals have worked for me.
Enjoy 2014 everyone – I hope it brings you success, happiness and peace…xx
