WHEN Katie Earley discovered she’d put on so much weight that she couldn’t get into her favourite party dress, she vowed to take action! Katie, 35, a mum of two girls aged five and eight, from Haslemere, Surrey, had piled on the pounds and had reached over 11 stone – her heaviest ever.
Today she’s at her lowest adult weight of nine stone because she’s retrained her brain to control what she eats. “There’s no sugar-fuelled binges any more and I feel liberated!” says Katie, who’s 5ft 5in tall.
“Can you imagine listening to a special recording every day for ten weeks and then discovering you’ve lost a whopping great 13lbs, dropped an entire dress size and shed an amazing 8.5 inches from your waist, hips, thighs and upper arms. All without any effort or stress at all.
“That’s what happened to me when I discovered Slimpod. I would wholeheartedly recommend it. There are too many unsafe, quick fix, fad diets out there and this is a healthy way to lose weight, which can easily fit into the busiest of lifestyles.
“When I started, I wasn’t desperately unhappy with my weight, but like most women I had no objections to being a dress size smaller than I was. I had recently rediscovered my favourite dress; a dress that had been bought for a very special occasion and had only been worn once (pre-babies of course).
“I tried it on and I couldn’t do it up by four whole inches of zip, which completely horrified me – and I decided there and then that I WOULD get back into that dress in time for the Christmas party season. I downloaded my first Slimpod that very evening.
“I was a binger, a grazer and a chocoholic all rolled into one so I need some pretty special help. I initially set myself the target of losing 10lbs over ten weeks and hung The Dress on the picture rail in my bedroom to keep myself motivated. I also took measurements of my waist hips, upper arms and thighs. In my first week managed to lose FOUR WHOLE POUNDS – not a bad first step!
“I wasn’t deliberately dieting, I didn’t ban any food. But I genuinely noticed my appetite decreasing, definitely noticed my cravings stop and, dare I say it, I seemed to have stopped eating for pleasure and started eating as a necessity.
“During my third week I realised that I had an overwhelming desire to do a lot of exercise. I’m a pretty active person anyway, but this week saw me beginning to challenge myself more. I also commented in my diary that ‘I feel like I’m detoxing without trying’.
“Now I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been. For my exciting Slimpod photoshoot I even tried on some skin-tight leggings that I would never have dared wear before – and I fell in love with them because they showed off my great new legs and emphasised my much slimmer hips and waist.”
Katie’s problem was typical. “I was always on a diet but I love food so it was a no-win situation. Like so many people I know, my entire day used to revolve around food! I’d wake up thinking about what I’d have to eat throughout the day!!
“Then at the end of a hard day I would turn to chocolate and biscuits because I was tired and needed to feel good or get a pick me up. I would say to myself ‘I just need one biscuit’ and that would lead to five biscuits and then a whole packet.
“I would get such strong cravings for sweet snacks and often this would turn into a binge. I was out of control – I was a binger, a grazer and chocoholic all rolled into one so I needed help! I used to graze all day long and still eat big meals – probably because I was brought up not to leave food on my plate.
“I now see such a huge difference in my eating. I am in total control of food and my Slimpod has taken me to my ‘happy weight’ of around 9 stone. When I look back I really can’t believe how much rubbish I ate!
“I still love food but now I hear my full signal and I have a stop button! That never used to happen. I no longer binge and am in control of chocolate and sugary snacks.
“I make healthier choices without even thinking about it and feel really energetic too. I love walking long distances. Now I have other things on my mind instead of food so I often find I’m too busy to eat!”
